Whether the city is named De Queen or DeQueen seems to be an unresolved issue.
Rolling past a sign for the 4C Cowboy Church before crossing into Oklahoma as Roger Miller sings King of the Road.
A pickup truck in Mt. Vernon, TX runs a red light about 3 seconds before it turns green and makes an immediate right turn into a gas station. Must have been running on fumes.
Mineola is a quaint little town. I chose it for a stop because I didn’t want to go through Dallas.

Northwest Mississippi is very flat. Reminds me of Kansas: arrow-straight roads and John Deere dealerships selling BIG farm equipment. Arkansas is similar until you get to Pine Bluff.
No matter where you are east of the Mississippi and south of the Ohio, you’ll find a business that calls itself “Mid-South (fill in the blank).”
Had lunch at the Blue & White Restaurant In Tunica. Ordered the DBLFGT, which the menu describes as “A kicked up BLT with mayonnaise, lettuce, fried green tomatoes and double Bacon.” It’s the closest I’ve come to eating a salt sandwich. It was good.
Crossing the Mississippi River is always an experience.
Arkansas has city limits signs for every wide spot in the road, not matter how small the population.
I met a truck driver in Stuttgart (population 8,264) that was heading to Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska before heading home to Louisville.
Stuttgart is also about where you start to see signs for kolaches, which are apparently more of a Texas thing; but bear in mind that if it exists in Texas, the state will likely claim ownership of it, or at least that they make the best. I should go into a place while I’m here and order a pierogi, just to be annoying.
Hot Springs reminds me a little of Asheville, NC. Good BBQ for dinner.
Stay healthy and safe.

Road Trip Day 1 (Yesterday): Danville to Gallatin, TN
Since I wasn’t getting together with anyone I wasn’t under any pressure to leave at a certain time. I hit the road around 6 PM and arrived around 8 PM with the time change. I stayed off the interstate and made my way through Lebanon, Campbellsville, and Glasgow. At one point I passed a Mustang that was driving under the speed limit on KY 436. Why own a car like that if you’re not going to enjoy it?
Road Trip Day 2: Gallatin to Memphis
I took the interstate today because I needed to meet a friend before my Tuesday evening gaming session at 7:30 PM. I told the game master that I would be there. I had a great time visiting with my friend and joined the game at 7:30. Unfortunately, I forgot to take the time change into account and was an hour late. So it goes.
Happy Easter to those who celebrate it. I’m driving to Nashville tomorrow. I was going to get together with a friend but they texted me today that they’ve taken ill.
I like saying that someone took ill instead of someone got sick. It sounds cooler.
In my denomination today is Holy Saturday, or Low Saturday, which is traditionally a solemn day. These days many churches (including some to which I’ve belonged) hold Easter egg hunts. To each their own, I suppose.
It would set a dangerous precedent, if you could go on to someone else’s land, build anything you want, and then sue that individual for the value of it.
