The software deploy this morning went fine. We had to make some changes to our app to support some changes another app was making. We probably spent more time updating the team that manages the other app than we did on making the changes. That’s okay. I’d rather spend time reassuring them that everything will be fine than explaining to them why something went wrong.

In my job everything seems to build up to Thursdays. We usually deploy software on Thursdays because it gives us Friday to troubleshoot any problems. No one wants to work the weekend if they can help it. But as a result by Thursday evening I’m pretty drained. Fridays are usually quiet. I have a couple of meetings tomorrow morning and I have to post a status report on an internal web site. No one will read it because our project status is green, but if I didn’t post it, or posted it with an amber or red status I’d get all kinds of attention. Fortunately we’re green.

I’m not complaining. Quiet Fridays can start to feel like three day weekends when you work from home. But Thursday evenings are usually pretty low energy. Eat some leftovers for dinner and do something relatively mindless.

But enough about my week. Stay healthy and safe.

Rainy Wednesday here, but it’s not cold. We have a software deploy at 5 a.m. tomorrow. In past lives I’d have to be there for it, because I was expected to supervise. Not with the team I have now.

“You need me to be there?”
“Nope, we got it.”

I love my job.

Once again we return to Monday. It’s the last week of classes for Rachel. Finals are next week. At work we’re preparing for a major software deploy in May, fiscal year end processing in July, and planning for the next fiscal year. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.

Stay healthy and safe.

I had my first moment of quarantine despair this morning. I started to make coffee and realized I was out of filters. I was sure there were more in the pantry, but there weren’t. Fortunately I collected myself and remembered that you can make a coffee filter from a paper towel. I also bought more filters today. I can’t live like an animal two days in a row.

Here are the last items from the email Lori sent me last week. Stay healthy and safe.

Here we are near the end of another week. I have two meetings tomorrow morning. That’s all that’s on my calendar unless someone schedules a call for the same day, which is considered bad form.

More from Lori. Today’s theme is Gas and Toilet Paper. Stay healthy and safe.
