Time to reflect and look ahead I suppose. This year certainly had its ups and downs. I think my biggest disappointment is that we didn’t get our Sealab.
Today I finished The Rising by Ian Tregillis and started The Liberation by the same author. They’re part of a series called The Alchemy Wars. Book 1 is called The Mechanical. Highly recommended if you like speculative fiction.
I ran a couple of errands today. I think I’m going to spend tomorrow reading. I haven’t read all day in a long time. It feels like the right thing to do.
I had a quiet day. Did some reading. Caught up with some people. Checked my work email to make sure things were under control. Pretty much how a day between Christmas and New Year’s is supposed to be.
So. Here we are. The weather here is cool and rainy, with temperatures expected to drop, leading to possible snow flurries but more likely freezing rain and patches of ice on the road. It’s nice to have a different reason to stay home.
I like Christmas Eve. As an adult in some ways I enjoy it more than Christmas Day. I have fond memories of spending evenings with family, listening to stories from grandparents and other relatives.
This year it’s Rae and me. I’m going to make pea soup in a little while. Rae’s going to make mashed potatoes. We may pull some other goodies out. We may watch a movie. There’s a fire in the fireplace. Life is good.
Welcome Christmas, bring your cheer. Cheer to all Whos far and near. Christmas Day is in our grasp, so long as we have hands to clasp. Christmas Day will always be just as long as we have we.
