My first day of vacation and I spend most of it wrapped up in a needless fire drill with the board of directors at my church, which I’m on. Tuesday’s not looking much better.

Today was Dungeons and Dragons. We had a fun session, as usual. The players are continuing to uncover the secrets of the previous ruler of their city; just a little matter of the embezzlement of 500,000 gold pieces.

I’m off work this week. Three days of vacation and two days of holidays. Our U.S. offices are closed so hopefully things will be quiet.

Strange dreams last night about former girlfriends, former jobs, a fictional Big Four accounting firm, and men’s black patent leather Bass Weejuns, which are also fictional and apparently had something to do with what to wear to a job interview at the accounting firm. (Hint: Not black patent leather Weejuns.)

One of the downsides of using the garage as my office in the summer is my personal laptop tends to overheat. I ordered a laptop cooling pad for it that arrived today. We’ll see if it helps.

I was up early today for a 7 am meeting. It’s funny. I’ve worked from home for over six years, but for the past few months I’ve slowly moved my wake up time during the week to between 7:30 and 8. Getting up at 6:30 today was a bit of a chore.

We’re almost ready for fiscal year end at work. Good thing, because almost everyone in the U.S. is off next week for summer break. We take three vacation days, the firm gives us two days off, and we chill. I love my job.

Robert Palmer, two members of Duran Duran, and the drummer from Chic got together and released a killer album in 1985 as The Power Station. I like this cover better than the original.

My doctor’s appointment went well. He took me out of the splint but kept my fingers taped and wants me to keep wearing the sling for protection. I have some more physical therapy exercises to do. Next appointment is in three weeks.

Rae is working on her summer class final assignment and has her first radio station board meeting later this week.
