bookmark_borderThe COVID-19 Diary: Tuesday 08 February

I went to a barber shop today for the first time in almost a year. An honest-to-goodness southern barber shop with hot lather, straight razors, and a teenager next to me getting his hair cut while his grandfather talked to the barber.

“You ‘member that ol’ boy, doncha? ‘Member his son? He was a big ‘un. Saw him in the back of a pickup truck one time. Took up almost the whole thing. Think he had weight loss surgery. Next time you see that ol’ boy have him do his Foster Brooks impression. Sounds just like him.”

The crowning glory was this display behind the register.

“How much you want for one of those?”

“We give ’em away.”

“I’ll take a blue one.”

Stay healthy and safe.
