I went car shopping today. I saw a couple of Volvo SUVs that were okay. Not great, but okay. I’ll look some more online tomorrow and Monday. I’d like to get something by Tuesday or Wednesday so I can go home. I’ve enjoyed staying with Logan and Maryann, but I’ve been away for two months. It’s time.
Good news from the doctor. I can stop wearing the leg immobilizer, although he wants me to wear it when I’m outdoors or using stairs. I need to start exercising (bending) my knee to regain range of motion. I go back in three weeks.
Strange week. My sleep cycle is screwed up. It’s the week before my employer gives its U.S. employees the week off, and Friday is the end of our fiscal year, so work at times gets a little more deadline driven than usual. Looking forward to Friday.
I like where I work but every now and then I’m reminded that every place has its…well, decide for yourself.
Them: Can you reach out to so-and-so for a reply to the email what’s-their-name sent them?
Me: I think it’s a little premature to ask for follow up on an email that was sent less than four hours ago, but if you want me to do that I will.
Them: You could send them an instant message instead.
Me: Again, I think it’s a little early to do that, but I’ll get in touch with them if that’s what you want. Also, our instant messaging app shows them as being away.
Them: You know that you can send them a message even if they’re away. They’ll see it when they get back…
Me (voice raised): FOLKS, STOP! I know how to communicate. Like I said, I think it’s presumptuous and a little pushy to follow up so quickly, but again, if that’s what you want, I’ll do it.
Them: See what you can find out.
Fortunately, it’s for a project that I no longer will be on as of the end of June. Is it the end of June yet?
Thoughts on the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV Series, which ended Season 1 last week: it was good. Not great, but good. The challenge it had was that it takes place before Episode IV: A New Hope (the movie we used to call Star Wars), so it had to fit within continuity, which removes a lot of the drama. In other words, you know that certain characters are going to survive intact.
Shows like The Mandalorian are better in part because they can create entirely new stories. That said, it was still fun.
