I upgraded my internet service to an unlimited data plan for an extra $30 a month. Considering the number of months I’ve spent up to an extra $100 for data overages, it seemed like a wise decision.
P. J. O’Rourke died yesterday. He wrote for and was the editor of National Lampoon and went on to write twenty books and numerous articles. He also co-wrote the National Lampoon 1964 High School Yearbook Parody with Doug Kenney (among others), who went on to co-write Animal House. Larry Kroger and Mandy Pepperidge appeared in both works.
It’s a shame the Bengals didn’t win the Super Bowl, but they had their best season since 1987 and have come a long way from winning six games in the two previous seasons combined. Looking forward to next year.
A big part of the reason I love running table top role playing games is the conversations. Near the end of today’s game the players freed an efreeti, who offered them three wishes as a reward.
Kathra, the dwarf bard who is very much the voice of reason in the group: “We don’t want ’em!”
Tavaner, the gnome wizard who’s always looking for an angle (and is Kathra’s husband in real life): “Well, now hold on. We could use those to accomplish our goal.”
“No way! You know how they always twist around wish granting so it backfires!”
“Since we’re at the end of the session we can table this until next time and think about what to do.”
It’s Thursday and my brain is mush. Between work and organizing gigabytes of photos I’ve reached my limit for the week. I have two hours of back to back meetings tomorrow between 9 and 11 AM. I may take the afternoon off.
Stay healthy and safe.
Song of the Day
Oregon Hill is a neighborhood in Richmond, VA. This song got a lot of airplay when I lived there.
