Twenty years ago today Warren Zevon gave his final performance. The Ringer has a nice article about it. The link to the performance is below. Zevon’s music has a significant place in my life’s soundtrack, particularly from 1978 – 2003. He’s in my pantheon of People to Admire but Not to Emulate, along with his friend Hunter S. Thompson, among others. I miss him. Requiescat in pace.
At the time of Wednesday’s post, reports of Jerry Lee Lewis’ death had been refuted. Today it was reported that he passed away – today. As in life, his death was a bit of a mess.
Rest in peace, Killer, and thanks for the great music.
I had a warped dream about one of my exes last night. In the dream we were in the process of splitting up. We were at a bar and she was flirting with another guy. They started making out and she told me that she was leaving with him. I went to my car, and as I started it she came running up, banged on the window, and begged me to let her in because his attention was an act. His real plan was to kidnap her and sell her as a sex slave.
Dreams like this don’t concern me. What concerns me is that I let the conscious part of this mind make major life decisions every day.
It’s that day of the year when Apple releases all of its major operating systems upgrades at the same time. Let’s spend hours updating our Macs, iPhones, iPads, Apple TVs, and Apple Watches. Better check out AirPods while we’re at it. I probably missed something.
Meanwhile, over on the Midnight Boys podcast, they’re having a grand old time eviscerating the Black Adam movie. Money quote: “God forbid that I spend $21 to see a movie and expect to get some plot.”
